About

Suzanne Herman has demonstrated a brilliant gift for playing piano and composition since she was a child. Classified as a professional musician by the age of 14, her decades of experience truly inspire. Today, she is an award-winning pianist, composer, recording artist, educator, and metastatic cancer survivor. Grateful for each day, her original music is calming with textured harmonies and intricate, heart-felt melodies. Suzanne’s contemporary instrumental piano solos have been characterized as descriptive music at its absolute best. Her piano stylings paint musical portraits that transport the listener to a location or sentiment.

In 2020, Suzanne was honored to become a Whisperings Solo Piano Radio artist. Influenced by artists such as Ludovico Einaudi, Michele McLaughlin, Michael Dulin, and David Nevue, Suzanne’s recognitions include “2023 Contemporary/Modern Album of the Year” nominee for A Seaside View, on SoloPiano.com. Additionally, her single, Sailing to a Sunset, received second place for “Best Single for May 2023” on One World Music Radio. Another single, Path of the Sandpiper, was nominated for “Best Solo Piano Single 2023” for One World Music Radio.

From childhood to young adult, Suzanne’s piano studies included renowned teachers and mentors, each igniting her passion for music. Her natural talent led her to earn a Bachelor of Music Degree in Piano Performance from the prestigious Oberlin Conservatory of Music. She continued to develop her expertise achieving her Master of Music Degree in Piano Performance from Bowling Green State University. After performing throughout the United States, playing a variety of genres and styles including classical, sacred, jazz, and contemporary solo piano, she served as Director of Music and organist at numerous churches. After the sudden and untimely death of her brother in 2014, Suzanne composed the works of her first album Lifeline (released 2018) to cope with grief and overcoming loss. As a highly experienced music educator, Suzanne continuously works to instill a lifelong appreciation of music into the lives of students.

Aside from independently releasing original piano music to Spotify, Pandora, Apple Music, and YouTube, Suzanne is a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. She cherishes the love and support of her husband, Jeff, her dynamic daughters, Laura and Emily; and her grandson, Liam.

“Music evokes and creates emotions. It calms, excites, and helps us push through. Music celebrates our joys and triumphs; it helps us during our greatest sadness and grief. Music inspires and heals.”
